Why rugs, marketing, and Arabic?
WASLA, وصلة, means ‘a connection.’ We work between the Middle East and America. Our business brings together Egyptian rug imports, marketing services, and Hakiya, our spoken-Arabic app.
Why WASLA
A rug buyer wants to know how a piece will fit their home. A business entering a market needs to understand its customers. An Arabic learner wants to know what to say in a conversation. These are the practical questions behind our work.
We source handwoven rugs in Egypt for American homes and run marketing campaigns for Arabic- and English-speaking audiences. We're also building Hakiya so learners can practice spoken Arabic with native-speaker audio and regular review.
Each part of WASLA is a way to get to know something from another place and make it part of your own life or work.
The principles we hold
Authenticity
We pay attention to local language and customs rather than treating either region as a single audience.
Partnership
We listen to the people who make our rugs and use our services. Their feedback shapes the work.
Craft
We care about how things are made, from the weave of a rug to the wording of a lesson.
Connection
Our work gives people ways to buy, learn, and do business across the two regions.
Three ways we connect
